Dear Parents,
Thank you for allowing your son/daughter to participate in our football program this year. It is our goal to see every family have a positive experience & we need your cooperation. Our coaches are dedicated in teaching your child some basic football skills. We hope to have a very positive impact on you and your child. We have a great group of volunteers to help in your experience, while you & your child are in the program. We do; however, realize that we cannot have a successful season without your support & cooperation. Below are a few things that will be required for your son/daughter to be eligible to play & be successful in our program. Please review the list below & contact one of the coaches if you have any questions.
DIRECTOR- Eric Smith 274-9330
MIDGET COACH- Eric Smith 274-9330 or Jeff Bowman 277-0660
PONY COACH- Larry Neuman 228-1278
PEE-WEE COACH- Mike Deitz 813-9006
Parent meeting- Wednesday August 19th, at 7:30pm at the conclusion of practice, South Hills Park. This is a mandatory meeting for at least one parent for each player to attend! The meeting will be brief, as well as important for you to attend. If there is any chance you can not attend please contact your coach.
Starting this year the equipment fee will be $30.00. Football as you well know is a expensive sport, we would like for your son/daughter to have the very best protection to ensure they are protected from injury. A complete set of practice & game equipment for your son/daughter is well over $150.00 to be suited up with. To defray the cost, we are asking for $30.00 equipment fee for each player. This fee is not optional & must be paid prior to your son/daughter receiving there game jersey for weight-ins. With out their game jersey your son/daughter will not be eligible for weight-ins & therefore will not be eligible to play this season. Checks must be made out to FRIENDSHIP FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION, cash may also be used, either way please put fee in an envelope with your son/daughters name on it, so we are able to give you credit. The payment shall be handed to a coach or to the association director.
Additional fundraising
We will be conducting various fundraising through out the season. Since it costs slightly over $10,000.00 a year to run a program this size, it is important to have as much participation as possible from everyone. Our fundraising chair is Tammy Heverling. Please contact Tammy if you are interested in helping.
Physical Exams
Starting this year we will be requiring, that everyone pay a fee of $10.00 for your son/daughter to receive a physical from our physician. In past years we have experienced a lot of confusion & last minute physicals, keep in mind that if your son/daughter does not have a physical exam by weigh-ins they are ineligible to play this season.
Proof of age
The cut-off date for player eligibility for determining age groups in our league is August 31st . Players who have played on our team last year DO NOT have to provide a birth certificate. ALL NEW PLAYERS MUST PROVIDE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE- NO COPIES (MUST BE THE ORIGINAL!!!!) These must be presented at weigh-ins & will be handed back that night or the next day.
Weigh-ins
The L.V.M.F.L has a weight restriction & the dates scheduled for weigh-ins for each level of play are as follows.
Midgets-------Tuesday Sept. 1st @ 7:30PM (weight limit-140lbs)
Ponies & Pee-wee’s------ Wed. Sept. 2nd @ 7:30PM (weight limit-115 lbs)
There are NO EXCEPTIONS! If your son/daughter does not meet the weight limit, they will not be eligible to play in games for the entire season. Attendance at weigh-ins is mandatory, each player must attend & meet the requirements to play.
Uniforms
Each player will receive a helmet, pads & a full practice uniform. Game uniforms will be handed out at a later date to those who have paid the equipment fee. We will be scrimmaging Hummelstown on the 1st and 2nd of Sept. at their field. This is subject to change.
Everyone must be at practice the nights of weigh-ins. There must be a parent there to transport their son/daughter to the optimist park to be weighed-in, if your child misses weigh-ins he/she will not be eligible to play this season. The players must be dressed in their game jersey and shorts for weigh-ins.
Our first game will be on Sept. 6th at home against Palmyra
Homecoming will be on October 18th at the home game for the 12 year old players and their parents.
We will be giving everyone 5 game schedules to sell for $1.00 each.
